Green Line

The Green Line LRT is the largest infrastructure project in Calgary’s history and brings with it, an unprecedented funding commitment from all orders of government totaling $4.903B..

The Green Line will be an important piece of Calgary's transit network, adding 29 stations and 46 kilometres of track to the existing 45 stations and 59 kilometre LRT system.

End-to-end, it will connect communities between Keystone and Seton to downtown, including Blue and Red Line and various other destinations along the way with fast, efficient and reliable transit service. Once the corridor is built out, the Green Line will serve an estimated 240,000 trips per day.

The Green Line will be more than just a transit line; it will connect to 10 planned transit oriented development stations and serve over 27 communities. The Green Line will create areas where people can live affordably with access to amenities, services and sustainable mobility options.

The Green Line will provide direct connections to the new South Health Campus, new recreation centres, major employment centres, the new $168 million National Music Centre, the new $245 million Central Library, Stampede Park, and several business revitalization zones. The Green Line will also integrate with future rail connection to the Calgary International Airport, where they recently opened the new International Terminal.

The Green Line will be built in stages as funding becomes available. Stage 1, which will begin construction in 2021, will go from 16 Avenue N. to Shepard (126 Avenue S.E.) and includes North Central BRT improvements from 160 Avenue N. to 16 Avenue N.
