As part of the Rivers District Master Plan, the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) is leading the 17th Avenue SE Extension and Victoria Park/Stampede Station Rebuild project. This project will connect Stampede Park to the Beltline; it is being run and funded by CMLC.
Calgary Transit is collaborating with CMLC on aspects of the project related to station design and transit service. Part of the project will see the rebuilding of Victoria Park/Stampede Station. The new station will feature:
- Increased platform capacity;
- Removal of the stairs and overpass at 15th Avenue SE;
- The addition of at-grade pedestrian crossings; and,
- A new, at-grade station platform.
Calgary Transit is doing everything we can to reduce service impacts due to the project. The plan is to maintain temporary station access points with a new, temporary CTrain platform for customers to continue accessing the station throughout construction. Some planned LRT closures related to the project will be necessary but our goal is to schedule closures during off-peak times to reduce customer impacts. Once construction is underway, you can find updates about service impacts by visiting our Service Updates page. For any construction, detour or lane closure related information, please visit the CMLC project page. A pedestrian detour is now in effect on site. You can learn more about that here.
There will be an additional, short-term pedestrian detour beginning September 1 through to September 3. The below detour map will be posted on site and customers are asked to follow detours for their safety and the safety of construction crews.
